Conclusion

Digital media has changed many things in the world. As a natural part of evolution and technological advances, television is no exception to this change. Radio changed when television was introduced. Television changed when digital media demanded it.  The rise of digital media has enhanced the television experience for audiences and changed the game for television shows. Interacting with audiences is more possible than ever before. Getting feedback real-time as shows air doesn't require focus groups. A character's story doesn't end just because a show gets cancelled. 

As programs have become more accessible, piracy has become more of an issue. However, the ability to stream shows online, live or on demand, creates wider availability for audiences, as it's no longer required to be at home to tune in. Audiences themselves have changed by becoming more engaged with shows. When their favorite character is killed off, instead of mulling over it themselves, they can take to Twitter and trend worldwide - making their feelings known. TV is no longer just the set box a family sits around after dinner, with no control over what to watch. It's an interactive experience that will only continue to grow as technology does, so long as networks can keep up.
